This unique event features women speaking, rhyming, screaming to be heard in our current climate of discrimination, subtle and obvious violence towards women. This event features local women poets. Funds raised from WS go to Starick.

Through this event, the audience will have an increased understanding of the lives of women in our community and the daily issues they both grapple and overcome. Further, this event is one link in a chain of international arts-based events that mark International Women’s Day and demand an end in violence towards women.

This event takes place on Whadjuk Noongar Land. As such we would like to pay our respects to Elders past, present and future and acknowledge that this is, was and always will be Aboriginal Land.

The "Woman Scream International Poetry and Arts Festival" (Grito de Mujer), is an annual international event that is held to mark International Woman's Day. WA’s Women Scream event is part of the festival.

Woman Scream 2022: Origin, is supporting the initiatives of the Action Coalitions for Generation Equality of UN Women for the next years and it's a tribute to our women ancestors and native women, whose cultures persist over time in several countries and who still suffer continuous abuses, in absence of laws that promote the validation of their rights. It is also a tribute to the women whose lineage, courage and strength, since ancient times, have been forerunners of the collective dream, towards a life free from women violence and equal women's rights.
